Detailing KASU’s Basic Studies Programmes: Requirements and Scope
KASU offers a range of programmes under the umbrella of its College of Basic Studies. The requirements for these programmes vary, so it’s essential to understand the specifications of each:
- Basic Programmes (pre-degree):
- Focus Areas: Basic Science (English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Geography) and Basic Humanities (English, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, and Literature).
- Admission Requirements: All candidates must have 5 O’Level Credit Passes, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings. Admitted students are expected to register for the 2024 UTME for admission.
- IJMB Programmes:
- Subjects: (A’Level Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Geography, Government, and Sociology).
- Admission Requirements: Candidates must have 5 O’Level Credit Passes, including English and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings. Admitted students are expected to register for the 2024 JAMB Direct Entry (DE) for admission.
- Remedial Programmes:
- Focus Areas: Remedial Science (English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Geography) and Remedial Humanities (English, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Government, and Literature).
- Admission Requirements: Candidates must possess at least 3 O’Level Credit Passes, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings. All candidates admitted for the Remedial Programmes are expected to register for the 2024 UTME for admission, and register and pass at credit level the SSCE or NECO in the subjects they are deficient before they are considered for admission.

- Initiate Your Application: Log on to the Kaduna State University forms website, click on the “register” link and follow the process to create a profile. Be sure to check your email for your Username and Password.
- Choose Your Programme of Study: Click on “available forms” and select your desired programme.
- Complete the Application Form: Fill out the application form with all the necessary details.
- Make Your Payment: Candidates must pay a processing fee of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00). This can be done by clicking on “Pay via Interswitch”. Choose your preferred payment method on the review page, either “Pay with WebPay” for online payment or “Pay with Bank Branch” for payment at any bank (FCMB is preferred).

Important Dates and Final Instructions
Take note, the closing date for the return of all completed application forms is August 31st, 2023. Forms should be returned to the office of the Administrative Secretary, College of Basic Studies, Kaduna State University, Kaduna.
Please be aware that the university will not enter into correspondence about its decisions with any candidate. If offered provisional admission, candidates will be required to present the originals of their credentials at the registration point.
